Haven’t we seen this problem before with new routes and airlines. They set the computer system up first using the basic information so that come the official launch they already have an indication of possible demand and can calculate fares to meet that demand/profit etc

Won't the link have to start becoming atleast double daily later down the line to work properly?

Looks like the pricing glitch has been sorted.
I put in a test route LPL-SIN-LPL in October and the basic fare is £605.

Yet the cheapest return Liverpool to New York I can find just now, with a fantastic 1hr 55m connection time is still £4,830.32. I've tried May, June, August and October. For the exact same dates, and indeed the same FRA-JFK-FRA flights, Manchester is £664.67 return.

To me and I'm no expert, with prices like that Manchester is going to win hands down and the LJLA flts are doomed befor they start.

So grim that Lufthansa has brought the launch date forward by two days.
The identified glitch is still being worked through and hopefully will be fixed in full this week.
That may not fit the apocalypse narrative popular amongst some posters, sorry to be the bearer of good news.

It's a joke though. Everyone I know who heard about the new service took a look at prices and then decided not to book. Some of them booked alternative services.

As I said before I'm no expert ,If a level playing field is there at the start it would go a long way to a good route and pricing structure, hope this is a successful route.

If it is a glitch, then this should have been made clear, with a statement from the airline or the airport, but glad to hear that it is being dealt with, and hopefully the real prices will show soon. We need this route to be a success.

I apologise if my post came across as if it had an apocolyptic narrative, that was not my intention. It is mere frustration, as we would like to use this service ourselves. I too want this to succeed for the benefit of my local area. If it does succeed, Liverpool will lose its crown as the largest city in Europe without a hub link, which then Rotterdam will take on the title. I just cannot get my head round the computer glitch though. Surely it shouldn't take this long to solve, considering the size of lufthansa and how much their income depends on a correctly functioning booking system. In the industry I work in, we'd be waiting hours not a month for this to be fixed. Fingers crossed the solution comes to fruition by the deadline they told eye2eye5 - I really hope it does.

I do agree, Highfly. Quite why it’s taking so long to correct the glitch, I can’t imagine. It does make me wonder whether they have outsourced IT and have lost control of it…..,

Perhaps they launched a bit prematurely. Everything should be ready for a new route. However the problem is known and being dealt with so let's just sit tight, and be pleased Liverpool has this very important new link. It needs to be a success so promote to your friends and colleagues, I doubt there will be a better chance than this route again.
