Had been meaning to visit Chirk for many a long year and decided to call in on the way to Birmingham to pick up grandkids....there are many photos of here in this category..but can add some advice on anyone planning a visit...drive right up to the top of the field as its huge..you will then be near the hangar...they now run a model train ride for the kids( forward and back on the hangar apron) and as the loco is kept in the hangar this means the doors will be opened around 8.30 and the Tiger Moth is pulled out thus making a hangar visit easier! A couple of requests for tie ups here please....can anyone confirm the i/d of a yellow mono in the wooden fencelap type hangar?poss a mini max...and the i/d of the silver metal fuselage in the main hangar....... I then dropped in at Shifnal..always heard they were anti enthusiast and you could only go in the fenced area outside the portakabin but I touched lucky as there was no flying and the aircraft owners present had no objections to a walkround... so my log for Shifnal ..... G-AJES/330485 Piper Cub marked C-44 (the main reason for my visit here) and the following micros/ultras... G-CCDX Thruster..G-MYGM Challenger..G-CEIE Flt Des CSW..G-HARI X-Air..G-JAAB Jabiru..G-BZWX Sorcerer..G-GFOX Kitfox...G-MYKV Gemini Flash.. G-MWVM Pegasus Quasar..G-MNZB Gemini Flash..G-CBAD Manair Blade..G-MTHT Shadow.. G-MVRP Shadow..G-CCIW X-AirG-BZYX....not bad for a drop in!... regards Dave

Hi Dave,
Think the silver fuselage is Nord N.1203 G-BEDB. Photo on Air Britain abpic.co.uk, think it's taken by carmedic?

David, I know when I visited Chirk a few years back one of the Nord fuselages was lying outside the hangar where the Rapides were- Possibly G-BAYL. Shifnal was user freindly when I visited there also. There have also been a few changes at that airfield since I visited. This is an extract from LAAS from based aircraft at Chirk in February this year Feb 2010 Based G - AIUL AJBJ AKOE ANFC AZMX BAYL BEDB BWLY CCNA MVBT MVNR MYGF MZFN MZLI Hope this helps Bob
