Conflicting reports on this one initially. Other sites were saying the aircraft is currently undamaged - though emerging photo evidence would suggest that it is probably gone. Russian forces destroy An-225

Probably the last time I saw it on the ground, at MAN 25-06-2013. Seen OTT Runcorn heading for EMA 29-10-2021. UR-82060 AN-225 by Beemer328i, on Flickr

I was reading about this yesterday and I don’t think it’s definite - some say it’s just the hangar
There was also discussions on the An-22, some say it’s okay others say it’s damaged
I think we will have to wait for a definite answer

Lots of fake news being spread around, I'm sure once the war has come to an end we will hear the truth.

I have seen a video of the destruction of the hangar and you can clearly see the an225 on fire and its nose on the floor but the wings are still attached. Here's a screen shot from the video showing its nose on the floor (the white and yellow circle)

Looks like a total loss from that picture - structural damage from the destruction of the front fuselage plus fire damage She's sitting on her backside due to the CoG shift too - the engines are pointing North

In brighter news, satellite images taken at around the same time show the AN-22 as being intact at the bottom centre of the images, although obviously lighter damage cannot be ruled out. Hostomel airport is still contested, and with the ramping up of Russian air attacks as the Ukrainian air defences are degraded it is very possible that the picture could change.

That is a very sad sight indeed. I saw it do what was an amazingly spirited display at Zhukovsky in 1992. Even our test pilots were impressed! Maybe they can build up the second aircraft, once this nonsense is over. There will be no shortage of help, I am sure.
