Mr O'Leary's quest for publicity seems to know no bounds. It's not like he'll have spoken to the licensing authorities before making such a statement. It's difficult enough for two fully-qualified pilots when things start going wrong, as we saw all too tragically yesterday in Dubai, let alone even imagining that a member of the cabin crew (with a little training ) can suddenly take over the controls and land the aircraft. This in itself is ridiculous, because the number of cabin crew is based on the number of passengers the aircraft is capable of carrying, so if you're suddenly a cabin-crew member short, the flight becomes illegal anyway. It's time someone like David Learmount told him just what an idiot he is making of himself.

Well Manx as far as I remember had the co-pilot of the Twin Otter, providing In flight cabin services during the flight, but on the flight deck for Take off & Landing. Apart from that the number of Cabin crew is regulated, From 20-50 Passengers, 1 cabin crew member, then 1 additional member for every 50 passengers or part of over that. So there would be problems re pay conditions Etc Etc Etc. Do you have what it takes to become a Ryanair Cabin Crew Member? The Grand and a Half in up front training fees!!!! Stay Lucky

So using that equation..... an A380 needs 10 or 11 then??? So thats what the upper deck is for! regards Dave

"1 additional member for every 50 passengers or part of over that!" OR PART OF ?? Not a pleasant thought.
