One of the earliest views I took of the airport in 1989. The 'new' Fire Station is still under construction, and the wartime firing butts and Admiralty 'S Shed' (hangar behind the SD360) are still there. The numbers on the runway end are '27' as the magnetic change was still a few years away. The cows and sheep were grazing within the airport boundary (and occasionally escaping 'airside'), this field now contains the parallel taxiway to the extended runway. The other buildings between the firing butts and the S-Shed are the former Ronaldsway Farm outbuildings, they still exist in use for light industrial activity.
