Dismal grey and slightly drizzly weather at first, but it gradually improved. With two test pilots and four serviceable aircraft available, it turned out to be one of the best days of flying at Warton for a long time! One of the based Typhoons went off unusually early (before 10am) so I missed it taking off. However it stayed up for well over two hours, so I caught it landing: ZK356 Typhoon FGR4 by Dan Sprague, on Flickr The second Typhoon launch of the day included a performance take-off. This was the third flight for this Qatari single-seater. More details of this particular jet are in the 31 January 2023 report. As a general rule they wait until the second flight to test the afterburners, and switch them on a little way down the runway, presumably to avoid burning the paint on the runway piano keys.
