it does not come as any surprise really it was getting a bit soggy yesterday. this also happened about 3 years back on the saturday due to the same reason. we know next year its on in july because of the tides so if next year goes ok then lets just leave it at that date where we have a bit more chance of getting some sunshine.

'Planekid' raises an interesting question for photographers who were, like me, intending to be at 27 for Sunday's activity.
Is there any indication yet as to when the various aircraft which night stopped at Liverpool are intending to depart and therefore in a position to be seen and snapped: 3 x Tornado GR.4 2 x Hawk T.1 2 x Tucano T.1 2 x Gnat T.1 2 x Venoms 1 x Hunter
Presumably the RAF aircraft will wait until Monday and their bases are fully open, the civilian stuff could well depart today ?
Incidently, having got the details in this post incorrect initially, PHB is near certain that the Venoms are the first to land at Liverpool - unless there was a visit in the '90s, my memory has overlooked. The visits in the '50s were actually by Vampire NF.10s being converted by Airwork (who never dealt with a Venom/Sea Venom at Speke), in the '60s and 70s only a handful of Vampire T.11s visited. In the past 10 years the only DH twin boomer to visit Liverpool was Vampire T.55 G-HELV in '04.
First Gnat T.1 to call at Liverpool was XP506/06 for a Liverpool Air Display on 1.6.63, with XP534/15 for the Air Display 1.5.71, both of 4 FTS Valley. The Gnats of 4 FTS Valley never appeared at Liverpool on 'practice diversion' and go-around as the Hawks do today. The 'Red Arrows' landed at Liverpool with their 10 Gnats in 1972, 1973 & 1978, then in the Hawks from 1980. The genuine XS111 calling at Liverpool 28-29.4.72 and 12.5.73. Civilian Gnats have called occasionally, eg G-RORI has been here before. Could well be the first time Gnat and Hawk have been at Liverpool at the same time though!
The first Valley Hawk T.1 to land at Liverpool was XX243 as 'FOR 63' (before the days of fixed VYT tri-grams) for two touch and goes on Wed 14.11.79 - around a year after the first Hawks appeared at Liverpool for approach and go-arounds. The 'Red Arrows' with their 10 new Hawk T.1s first appeared at Liverpool in 1980.
The 4 FTS 'Yellowjacks' team with their yellow Gnats flew late summer 1964. The 'Red Arrows' with scarlet Gnats formed Spring 1965, flying their Gnats until September 1979, converting to Hawks for the 1980 seasons. The scarlet scheme, with standard fin flash and Union Jack on the fin was used in 1965 to 1967. For seasons 1968 to 1977 the tail had full length red/white/blue fin flash and white lightning flash on nose. For 1978-1979 the words 'Royal Air Force' replaced most of the nose lightning flash. So although the 'Red Arrows' scarlet Gnats called at Liverpool three times, they were all in later schemes than that worn by XS111 last weekend. The proper XS111 was the only Gnat delivered direct from Folland to the Red Arrows team after its first flight 9.4.65. Damaged beyond repair when over-ran the runway, Kemble 24.6.76.

I too was planning on spending the afternoon at the GA car park to snap some of the airshow participants. Missed all the arrivals on Friday due to family illness, yesterday was just a complete washout at the show and today ruined now too.
Was looking forward to this weekend for months, nothing more than a 'damp' squib now!
Regards, Garry
