:)Hi Dave, I suspect your yellow tail hawk was the Hawker Hunter G-PSST Departing LPL.Regards Robbos.

This sighting has perplexed me. The yellow nosed Hunter is quite possible, although the colours are the reverse of the sighting, which is stated not to have been a Hunter. The other possible answer is the red and blue 'Union Jack' scheme on a black Hawk (photos on the Friday LJLA thread). Neither though match the sighting, although both departed up the river for Southport during the afternoon, no doubt Dave will publish the departure times on the nwan.co.uk site two weeks into October. Sorry, a satisfactory answer is not forthcoming.

I have looked at my photos of the Hunter departing to display on Saturday and it was 16:30.

Could be completly off the mark with this as a possible ID of this "YELLOW" HAWK where any T2`s from Warton knocking about dressed in the base coat primer which looks yellowish to some people ? I personally spotted one last year on a weekend in about the Mersey and then departing back to Warton vai the coastal route. I doubt it will be the answer but just a thought.

A good idea, however on Saturday morning of the Southport Air Display, there was a group of enthusiasts on a tour around BAe Warton. There was no flying in progress, nor any sign of likely activity with no evidence of rush jobs demanding 'overtime' flight testing on a weekend. So, sorry, good idea though ... the puzzle continues.
