The CRJ-200 to CRJ-1000 Series. Review of all visits to JLA

While updating threads such as the Fokker F28/F70/F100 and Embraer ERJ.170-195 came across some 2020 notes when I started researching other still in-service types. One of those types has only in the past year become a regular on the apron at John Lennon Airport, although visits by the CRJ go way back to 1997 and flown by some now disappeared British airlines. So I've completed the research and am producing this 'type report' in a different tabular format. As all I have to do is search, find, copy & paste a spreadsheet for all movements since 2014 and add the odd comments, so organising and typing time is substantially reduced. If successful I have a few other part-researched types in prospect too.

THE CANADAIR FAMILY OF REGIONAL JET AIRLINERS

The Canadair Regional Jet CRJ-100 with a maximum of 50 passengers capacity, built by Bombardier Aerospace in Canada was introduced into airliner service in October 1992 as a development of the similar size Challenger 600 executive jet. The CRJ-100 when fitted different engines became the CRJ-200 and in turn developed into the Challenger 850 executive jet. This study is just about the airliners, so biz-jet interior Challenger 850s such as G-RADY, D-AJOY, D-ALIK, N209RW, 9H-CLG, 9H-ILY, 9H-JAD, 9H-JOY which have visited JLA in recent years are not included.

During 1995 Bombardier embarked on design studies to stretch the CRJ-200 produced the CRJ-701 to 704 with 70-78 passengers maximum. A further stretch produced the CRJ-900, with passenger capacity for 76 to 90 passengers depending on layout, and went into service in 2001. This was further stretched to bring maximum capacity to 104 passengers as the CRJ-1000, which entered airline service in 2010. There are also CRJ-440, CRJ-550 and CRJ-705 variants, these being existing models with seating and weight reduced to comply with regulations restricting the capacity of aircraft operated by regional airlines in America and Canada.

The CRJ programme was acquired by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) on 1st June 2020 with the final CRJ-1000 being delivered from Canada in February 2021, although there are plans to return the CRJ-900, CRJ-1000 and CRJ-550 to production, the Mirabel plant is now fully occupied with Airbus A.220 production. The Wikipedia entry for the CRJ's is contradictory regarding the numbers of each model built, but worth a read through if you want more detail about the type and variants.

Plenty of scope here for others to add further images of CRJ's at Liverpool Airport to this thread. I missed seeing the British European, Maersk Air UK, Flybe and the early Lufthansa visits etc, someone must have had a camera with them at the time, some interesting schemes.
