With a lot of help from Mike (Radiostation) I am coaxing my old Canon 3200F into producing half decent images worthy of sharing. Here we go with a few. I hope to expand. I know some of these and similar images might have been seen before, after all I was not the only one there at the time, but I hope it brings joy. G-AMYX DC-3 BUA Speke April 1964 (2) by Ron Turner, on Flickr PH-SCC and PH-SSM Dc-3s of Fairways, Speke Februrty 1964 by Ron Turner, on Flickr Before being painted in full British Eagle colours:- G-ASPM GASPN Saudi Arabian Speke Feb 1964 by Ron Turner, on Flickr G-ASPM and PN Saudia tails by Ron Turner, on Flickr G-ANAN Dove Moreton Air services G-AMXN Dove John Bloom Rolls Electromatic Speke may 1964 by Ron Turner, on Flickr G-ALHG Argonaut Derby Airways, Speke April 1964 by Ron Turner, on Flickr I have this down as 1964, but I think it might be earlier. In fact It might not be my own photo. Its probably a hangar 50 swap. Thanks to Brian Viscount and Planemike I can confirm this image is from way before 1964. G-AGHJ DC-3 Pionair BEA Speke, early 60s or late 50s by Ron Turner, on Flickr Obviously from the runway lighting, not the best of days for photos in 1964. Today it would be a walk in the park for our experts. G-AOZM DH Heron Dan Air Speke March 1964 by Ron Turner, on Flickr G-AOZM Heron Dan Air G-ARAY HS748 Speke March 1964 by Ron Turner, on Flickr

Ron...... Many thanks for putting these wonderfully nostalgic shots on here. I was an active ""spotter"" at Eastleigh (Southampton) in the early 60s. Many of the a/c shown showed up there or at other airfields that I visited. Did not reach Speke until 27 June 1965!! Re: BEA DC3 Pionair Dakota G-AGHJ. According to G-INFO this passed from the ownership of BEA in March 1961. It then flew with Jersey Airlines; was a "regular" at Eastleigh. There is a photo on ABPIC showing the a/c at Eastleigh in it's Jersey Airlines scheme.

There were only a few nice ones there who would tolerate us, the ginger one hated us and if we dared go into the terminal God save us, he was on our case within seconds. Nice pics Ron, keep the Eagles coming. +1 The worst of those was Sergeant d'Arcy - badge No. 110. He looked and behaved exactly like Mr MacKay out of 'Porridge'. One night, when I'd gone to see something unusual that had arrived - (can' remember what now), he stopped me on the entrance road and refused to let me in. I went home very upset, and the next day my father went and spoke to him. He was still difficult, but less difficult than before.

Today I dug out a few more from my collection The Brit. I could not resist putting up for you. The others are three somewhat unusual types: even the Cessna is unusual in that it is N reg, long before it became fashionable to do this.
