If you are thinking of coming to France this summer, or any summer, you might want to look up the theme park Le Puy Du Fou which is not far from me in the Vendéé. It claims, and has been awarded many times "The best theme Park in the world."
Its not like a Disney park where you queue for hours for a 5 minute ride. At Puy du Fou you might queue for half an hour or so, but each spectacular lasts for half an hour or more, even 1 hour. In the 18 years I have lived here we have been at least 8 times. It really is fabulous.
The park is open only in the summer months from April to say October. For me the crowning glory is the Cinescenie night show, ( Separate entry and at weekends only.) which starts at the fall of dark, so in high summer, quite late and runs for a bit under two hours. (Two days ago we got home at 2-45 in the morning.) This amazing spectacle takes place on a huge natural stage in front of the old chateau and a lake. It is probably the biggest stage in the world for any event. Over 2500 actors, lights, music, drones, pyrotechnics and fireworks make it quite spectacular.
Now, there is one draw back. Its all in French. However there is a big international clientele, so you can get little translator thingies which work of wifi or bluetooth or something similar, but really, the spectaculars themselves are so self explanatory and breath taking, the language is not such a barrier.
Here is the web site to have a look.
