Alan, I have just booked a week in Vegas next April, just a couple of questions:- When you went this year was the viewing area at Sunset still open? When I went two years ago they were doing a lot of work nearby on the airfield. I know all the various nooks and crannies where the biz jets hide. But would you recommend any other areas, as normally when I go I stay at the above viewing area. Also approx what time does the Korean 777 usually arrive? Also what is Henderson like? Any Biz? Happy Days Bob

Bobby, where Sunset and Las Vegas Blvd join, there is a great place especially if you are into photography. There is a petrol station on the opposite side of the road, I think there is a fast food place there too....but its been a couple of years. Most biz land on this runway, so ideal to shoot them as they land, also plenty of airliners too, inluding most of the lang haul stuff. Also biz depart from these, so you can monitor whats departing also. You will also be able to see aircraft taxying to the other runway, although normally heat have is a problem here. The police know what you're doing here, and as you are off airport do tend to leave you alone, unless they want to come over and just say hi.......I had this, and had to keep stopping our "chat" with an "excuse me" as something was about to land that I wanted a shot of. He was worried that I kept taking Southwest 737's, until I explained that they all have different numbers on them, so I was trying to get a shot of each one.......a futile exercise I know! But apart from that he was OK! If you need any more help, advice, just drop me a line, where else are you going while you're in the states, you into military too?

John, I know exactly where you mean, this is my fifth time to Vegas, so I know the majority of locations to view from. I normally go to the viewing area. Or I drop the missus off on the slots in the MGM Grand then walk down Tropicana and along Reno to view the Biz. Anyway thanks for getting back to me. Bob

Hi Bob/All.
First sorry for taking so long to reply to your request,
LAS.
I like you stay at the Viewing Area on Sunset.
They now close the area from 0100 to 0500 to stop the Tramps and
Lovers from sleeping there.
My normal day at LAS,arrive about 0615 and get the early
departures,it slows down about 0800.I then go around the Biz
nooks and crannies.
The only new spot is after you come out of Signature onto the Strip
you can turn onto the waste land of the old Klondyke hotel and
drive right up to the fence. How long this will remain I dont know.
I dont know how long it is since you were at LAS but they have
built a parking lot for the Las Vegas sign which you can drive into
if you are Southbound on the strip. This is great for reading off
whats on the Signature ramp.
The rest of LAS is still the same except the multi story carpark, now it
is take a ticket when you enter, the old Quarter machines which you
used to use have gone.
The other bad news is that the Korean B777 has changed to a
B747 at the moment.
Henderson.
I always go up to Henderson most days, you can get anything from
no Biz to up to about a dozen,
There is also a hanger with some Eclipse 500s in it.
This hanger is on your left as you drive down to go around the
bottom of the ramp.
Follow 115 South and come off at Junction 27 St Rose Parkway,
turn left and carry on until you see the right turn for the Airport it is
at the moment the second set of lights and is sign posted.
There is so much road building work here that it could soon be the
fourth or fifth set of lights !!!
If you want anymore INFO just ask.
