I wonder how many others saw the recent documentaries on these two subjects. Of course I knew of the work of the womens' section of the ATA, I even met one of them a bout 10 years ago, but I had no idea of the variety of work they undertook. The interviews with these women, now all in their 90's, were truly fascinating. One of them showed her logbook. In one day she flew a Hellcat, a Spitfire, a Wellington and something else I cannot remember. She flew 75 types in the 4 years she was in the ATA. I was mightily impressed.
The other subject was the building of a Wellington at Broughton. It was built from parts, some pre assembled, and flown within 24 hours from start. Again. Something of which I knew nothing and very humbling to think of what so many people did in those times. RT

They were both very good programmes.........it just shows what this country did in the past......cos there is no way we'd ever be able to do it again!!!

Ron look under the Hawarden section dated 19-09-2010 and you may still be able to replay the documentary about Wellingtons. Regards Beemer.

It would appear Ron that the documentary has expired. Regards Beemer.
