I thought it worth mentioning to you, a writing programme organised by the American company STORYWORTH.
I wrote a book using this idea. My daughter bought the gift for me.
Here's how it works.
Every week for a year, the budding writer receives a question. You can choose to answer the question in any way you like. Meander and drift all over the place. I was astonished at my recall of events once I got into the swing of it. Don't' like the question? Select another one or even edit the title of the question. Once you get the hang of it, it's easy.
The stories are held on the company server. You can go back and edit as often as you want. Pictures too.
Finally after the year is up, you get three months to wrap it up, proof read, and edit as often as you want. You are prompted at every stage.
When you are really, really, ready you get to preview a fully paginated version of the whole thing, and yet another chance to edit it.
Finally you get to push go. Then they make you wait a day or two for you to correct the mistake that woke you up last night thinking about, then finally it gets to the printer.
The result is a beautifully hard backed volume of 480 pages (max).
Copies with photos in black and white are $39. In colour are $200. I think $200 a bit high but here's the good news. You are entitled to download a pdf version in full colour free of charge. I bought several B&W volumes, for my nearest and dearest. They also received the colour pdf as did those my friends who felt a desperate need to read it. Delivery from the USA is a bit costly at about 8€ average per copy, (in my case to France.) but UPS did it very well. The book cover picture is always in colour. You can go back to edit and re-order whenever you want.
This is not my life story, but it tells a lot about my life: Family, jobs, flying etc. I chose to keep the questions in the order they came. You can chose to rearrange them if you want. Its the work of an amateur, but the physical delivery is very professional and it looks great on the bookshelf.
I answered 50 questions. Hence the title:- Fifty Shades of Flyingronaldo.
It you want to know more, send a PM. It would make a good Christmas gift and in true American style, I have a $10 gift card you can use towards your subscription.
