I saw my first Road Gritter out this morning on Cuerdley Road, Widnes passing Fiddlers Ferry power station. Is it me or is it a little bit early to grit the roads. Regards Beemer.

Passed by the salt mine in Winsford the other day, and noticed that there were a lot of fully-loaded gritter wagons lined up. I used to use Cuerdley Road a lot when I lived in Penketh, and I seem to remember that the area around the disused railway bridge was a bit frost-prone.

Probably just moving them around. I saw a brand new one the other day, complete with plough, traveling along Smithdown Road in the middle of the afternoon. Gone are the days when they used to be converted end of life bin lorries or Parks and Gardens dumper trucks.

A little bit off topic Garstonboy but the bridge is not a bridge any more. They have "bricked" up both sides of the archways using real sandstone blocks with vents at the bottom of each side for the wild life to pass thru'. I suppose it is cheaper than knocking it all down and making it into a dual carriage way. Ste, the gritter was actually speading grit. Regards Beemer.

Anyone on the Wirral who happens to be near Duke Street Bridge may notice near the berth the Ferry Boats use for repair and repaint, a mountain of rock salt and today a line of lorries wating to be filled. Perhaps someone knows something we don`t.

That is probably nearer the truth than possible knowing some of these local councils. A pre emptive strike.

I dont think you would have seen any Stockport council vehicles being loaded , they couldnt be bothered last year , they never moved out of the Depots , as any of you who have been to Stockport knows ,its all up and down hills which equals CHAOS , but the Buses ran on ungritted roads God bless there little cotton socks ! respect !
