Let's hope the Albastar makes it - Easyjet and Emerald have cancelled all flights today.

Obviously Spanish B737 don't have problems with wind - arrived early.

That has got to have been one of the most stunning bits of flying I have ever seen. 50 to 60 mph gusts straight across the runway, everything else had canceled, a cabin full of school kids, he crabbed in sideways, and just when everyone was expecting an overshoot and diversion he seemed to put his foot down and held it low to a very firm touchdown. Plus lots of tyre smoke! No apologies for a full set of photos of the action. Great set of photographs of the crosswind landing of the 737-800. Very challenging conditions and a good job that the runway was not wet. Our company policy was that approaches could be made with a reported direct crosswind component of 40 knots. I got to ride in the simulators quite frequently, and it scared the heck out of me when they would practice landings at maximum crosswinds, especially if there were added challenges such as an engine out. I am sure the kids on board had a great time on that approach….but the adults? ?
