Continuing with my Belgian visit (see previous two threads), on 20th August 1975 I visited Brussels-Zaventem Airport. There was not much activity so I moved on to Grimbergen, just to the north of Brussels.
Here are the results from that day, Brussels first;

Of note were the armed soldiers front and back, plus it was remote oparked. This 707 was later preserved in Germany and displayed in Lufthansa colours, before being recently scrapped.

Pleased to have got this one, but it was not a survivor, being lost in a crash years later.

Note the usually excellent roof-top terraces, but they were closed when I was there, possibly because of the Israel 707.
On to Grimbergen, a very pleasant place, subsequently closed by a new local authority owner, until they were persuaded to re-open it years later, after first foresting half of the site!

Note the circular hangars (two) in the background, by a British architect in 1957, they have a moulded concrete core, the first ever, and are now registered buildings.

The real gem in this photo is the fencing in the foreground. It is British three and a half inch square Steel Mesh Tracking (SMT), a relic of the D-Day invasion when Grimbergen became an Advanced Landing Ground B-20.
