Well, here I am on this thread and trying to be positive.
My support for a rail link to LJLA on the Terminal/airport developments thread met with some negative responses. I put forward a positive case for a direct link to meet future demand. Further thoughts on the matter would suggest that, in addition to a link to LJLA via Speke Hall Avenue at Liverpool South Parkway for the main railway line, would also provide an opening for a link into Merseyrail. When the Halton loop opens it would make all of North Wales accessible to both the city and the airport.
There was a proposal for Transport for Wales to open a North Wales/Lime Street direct link to Lime Street last year but it seems to have been quietly forgotten. The potential of a LJLA link from South Parkway is enormous if linked with expansion to North Wales and the whole of the Merseyrail network. It would also open up the Midlands.
My thoughts are that these aspects should be considered NOW and not when the airport has reached 6million passengers.
I trust that putting this topic here rather than under the Development section will stimulate positive discussion.

I use the the Halton curve service quite often. You are right to say it was to link N Wales to Liverpool ( inc airport ). This is taking an age, and frankly S Rotherham, should be jumping up and down about the delay. It actually wasnt that long ago, when the Chester - Liverpool returned to hourly, was every 2 hours for ages. I often see people with cases on it, including myself at times. To my mind an airport link of some description comes way before any extra MAN airport station .

The result is there no discussion,.it's like a library

There could be light at the end of the TFW tunnel with respect to Liverpool South Parkway - N Wales rail services . Apparently the delay is being caused because the line west of Chester passes some campsites which have level crossings traversing the railway. For safely Network Rail will only allow a certain amount of trains per day. Now foot bridges are to be installed thereby allowing extra trains to use the railway including the long delayed Liverpool - Llandudno service. This will greatly improve access for N Wales rail passengers to reach Liverpool Airport.

I see that the 86A bus service to LJLA is to be increased to every 7 to 8 minutes. Excellent news as an interim. Not as good as a dedicated rail link directly into the airport but it is, at least, a start.
