One thing to take into consideration I would guess due to latest airborne bombs is security. I am sure the authoriries will be pretty touchy around airports right now.

Scanner, the American's are aware of what they call "tail spotting", but I would say just be very careful. I've been over there several times, and in the main, they are normally just curious as to what we do. It will normally be a member of the public that alerts the police that someone is suspicious, then the police will wander over for a chat, just be open as to what you are doing and above all friendly! I've always been left alone. If you are asked to move, do it, will save you getting more hastle! Above all. don't worry and enjoy your trip!!!
If you want more info, just message me direct.
John

Went to La Guardia last year and spotted with no problems for about four hours, on the concourse from the main car park into the terminal building. (Overlooks main runway) JFK you can go around on the skytrain and you should have quite a bit of success, but with what has happened in the past week with the freight aircraft from Yemen and into Dubai. I would use as others have advised with caution. I would get to the airport early for the return flight and spot airside. If you have got any concerns make yourself known to the Police and let them know what you are doing. Newark I have only driven past this airfield so unable to give you any tips. You can get the airport shuttle to and from JFK, but I would go on the subway for two dollars each way and get off at the skytrain and circuit the airport from thetrain. Hope this helps Happy Spotting Bob

Hi,
Thank you everyone for your Advice and Suggestions, its just typical when you get this sort of chance to go somewhere different that the security goes up a level or 2, but i am sure with a lot of caution i will get too see a bit of NYC air traffic. I will try and upload a few photos when i get back, (with some assistance i may add).
Thanks again and Happy Spotting
