If this problem only effects the RR Trent engines which are fitted to some 380`s, I was wondering what other airliners with only 2 engines have the Trent fitted ?

Wikipedia.org has much on the various versions of the RR Trent engines. Versions are flying on the A.330, A.340, A.380 and Boeing 777. For the future it will be fitted on the Boeing 787 and A.350WXB.
Right from the early days of the Qantas engine failure, all parties have gone to some lengths to stress that the problem is only with the Trent version for the A.380, not the less powerful and well proven version fitted to A.330, A.340 and B.777.

Don`t you just love this laid back comment. "20 are affected by the problem, including three at Lufthansa. The defective engine part will gradually be replaced." GRADUALLY ??

Meanwhile, all Boeing 787's in the flight test program remain grounded.
At least the A380 is still flying and in revenue service,

Yes--how typical of the Yanks to stri up as much sh*** over the A380 problems esp, RR engines. It does help to divert attention away from the 787 and its catastrophic fire--and I though spin had died--well its alive and well in socialist USA.LOL

The 787 fire was caused by a tool inadvertantly left in a critical area whilst the A380 engine problem is a design fault. As you always say LOL LOL LOL -

What worrries me about the A380, is exactly what is worrying two friends of mine who fly them for a living. The partial engine break up caused near catastrophic damage to the wing, control mechanisms and hydraulics. The approach at Singapore was opted for ahead of its optimum moment (Weight and balance of fuel on board etc.) simply because it was becoming unflyable. In true European/French/Airbus fashion this is a matter which will be solved in due course, but in the meantime these risks remain and are avoided in conversation. And yes, I am a great supporter of Airbus and I know that a great deal of head scratching is going on in the design centres

Ah Maverick--sorry but you missed the point yet again.LOL The point being not that the 787 has had a fire for whatever reason but the emphasis being placed on the problems of the A380 which have pushed the 787s problems out of the news Its called spin.LOL ie the spinning of news items to your advantage and to the detriment of your competitors--as in13 years of disaster called socialist rule.(just in case you have a short memory--re Mandelson et al for a better explanation. Keep smiling.LOL John

As far as 13 years of socialism - I don't think so. New Labour just continued with basic conservative policies for fear of the middle classes whilst trying to repair the massive damage done by the years of Thatcher and co, who destroyed our manufacturing and industrial bases whilst running down schools, hospitals and the social fabric of Britain generally. LOL LOL LOL LOL ;D
