Finally the MOD are admitting there is something wrong with the Nimrod fleet. Only took them two years. Perhapse they have been saving up and with families sueing decided to raid the piggy bank. news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7932791.stm

More likely that, with Sentinel nowavailable and far more capable, they are being quietly replaced. The MoD clearly thinking that there is more quodos and point scoring in bringing the Nimrods home than leting the Taliban know that a far superior purpose dsigned aircraft is taking the intel gatherig role over from what is still essentially a maritime patrol aircraft.

Most RAF Nimrods MRA2s are being replaced anyway now by the MRA4, From when i went to RAF Kinloss (Home of the Nimrod fleet)we were told they are due there fleet by 2010! So are they going to pay out, if the MRA4s are ready, and will have taken over the old fleet by 2011.
