An aircraft with an interesting history, as when with the RAF in 1945 (KN628), was used as Field Marshal Montgomery's personal aircraft, before going to Derby Airways in 1954 as G-AOGZ.
The aircraft was given to Monty by General Eisenhower.
It was possibly operating a charter in connection with a sports event.

Or more likely Jersey or Guernsey as they were classed as overseas ( duty free area) destinations. I recall early on a Saturday afternoon about 1 pm a BEA Vanguard was towed from domestic to International ( A to B pier) for just that reason. Often as not while I was indulging in fish fingers (2) and chips in the roof top cafe at 1s10d a go or if I was flush sausage (2) chips and beans at 2/= ( 10p). Sometimes the staff would take pity and add a 3d cup of tea for free. The entrance was on the top near the shop that was a dry warmish haven for spotters, I just wish I could remember the name of the lady that ran the shop for many many years. A surrogate mother to many young cold spotters. Be lucky David
