More choice on Ebay if your prepared to go down the search, bid and wait route of an auction. But it can pay dividends getting a better expensive one far cheaper. Go to Ebay - Home Electronics and search on Scanners.
Check this one on ebay.

That was the reason I showed you that link, as it will pick up any working freq without the need to turn a dial or set it to scan, as you know LPJL will have numerous freqs working some at the same time. This would reduce your work load, whilst your at work

lfsflyer Your better off with a mains scanner or a battery powered proper handheld scanner, those little black box things don't work very good or don't work at all. There is one currently on the market at £79.95 and someone was using it on a plane and never heard anything at all, I've also had someone at Liverpool Airport with one and they heard nothing. Oh and before some smart a**e replies saying you won't hear anything at 38.000ft, the info with the £79.95 black box states it can be used on aircraft. www.wsplc.com/acatalog/Black-Box_Airband_Receiver.htmlPhil

I agree with Phil. You need a mains base station with a roof aerial (or in the loft if you have) or/and a decent battery one that can be plugged in to the 12v socket in your car. I don't believe you need hundreds of channels just 1/2 dozen does the job for me as I only listen to civil aircraft but if you do military you will need more. I have two base stations one up stairs and one down with a roof aerial and a loft aerial but I bought a little cheap one to have in my bag for work. I got it last year on offer from Maplins, a Maycom AR-108 costing about £35.00 and a bugger to program but OK with an ear piece in. Regards Beemer.

Beemer i had that little maycom one and it was great. nice and light and as you say clear with an earpiece. only problem with it though it used to eat batteries so in the end i bought a good set of uniross rechargeables and had one set always on charge. am looking for a new scanner now myself but i want one that will cover marine band aswel.
On a seperate note LFSflyer i flew G-LFSH 2 years ago for my 18th and it was brill
