11APR1961. c/n 754. R.A.F. Henlow. Del/date 08MAY1952; sold 30SEP1957 to PH-885 at Teuge, Netherlands. From what I can tell this glider is still operational in the Netherlands! BTW, the cadets shown were members of the Liverpool Institute CCF!

10APR1961. R.A.F. Henlow. Original serial WP185. Del/Date 04JUL1955. "E" of 34Sqn RAF Tangmere; Later converted to F.5; to 7583M 21AUG1958; RAF Museum 1973-1989; MAR2006, privately owned, Great Dunmow, Essex.
Hafner Rotachute P-5
1APR1961. P-5 (cn 8381M). Now at the Museum of Army Flying at Middle Wallop.
During the Second World War a team led by Raoul Hafner carried out experiments using rotary-winged aircraft as a means of delivering troops and vehicles onto the battle-field. The Rotachute P5 was designed by Hafner in 1941 to carry a fully equipped man, a Bren gun, 300 rounds of ammunition, a parachute, a gun sight and a compass. The craft would have been towed into the vicinity of a landing zone and released, allowing the pilot to guide the craft to the ground under auto-rotation. Flight testing was performed towed by a Tiger Moth.

Gloster Javelin F.A.W.1/7 XA560/7619M
10APR1961 R.A.F. Henlow. Del date 30SEP1955; to 7619M at Henlow 26OCT1959; later scrapped. This was the 17th. production Mk.1 and the prototype Mk.7. Unfortunately, the picture does not show the antenna/probe mounted on the nose.

de Havilland Vampire F.3 VF332/7089M
12APR1961. R.A.F. Henlow. Del date 06OCT1947; to Henlow 22AUG1955 for ground instruction as 7089M; remains to the fire dump by 1964, since perished. Apparently, on 31AUG1947, John Cunningham raised the Class C.1/1 100km. closed circuit speed record to 496.88mph. in this acft. flying from Lympne.
de Havilland Devon C.1. VP952
11APR1961, R.A.F. Henlow. Del date 31OCT1947; to RAF Museum store, St Athan 05JUL1984 as 8820M; then to RAF Museum at Cosford. It was the 'Hack' of the C-in-C Signals Command. This acft. is the first production Devon & the 17th. off the production line. NOTE: the change in cockpit glazing compared to that as displayed at Cosford.
de Havilland Chipmunk T.10 WB654
11APR1961, R.A.F. Henlow. c/n C1/0097. There are no training markings on the acft. Del date JUL1950; to 8218M; sold 08MAY1997; registered G-BXGO 13MAY1997 at Booker, Bucks. There appears to be some confusion regarding the 8218M serial as it sometimes references WB645 (c/n C1/0085) del date 15JUN1950; reduced to a PAX(?) at No.1 SoTT Halton as 8218M (not taken up), stored Bicester. The CAA website has no reference to this latter acft.
Bristol Sycamore H.C.11 WT925
10APR1961, R.A.F. Henlow. Formerly G-ALTA. This was the 4th. production acft and was the 'personal' aircraft of A.V.M. ? ? Remaining history unknown.
Bristol 173 Mk.1. XF785/7648M
10APR1961 R.A.F. Henlow. Ex G-ALBN. Returned to G-ALBN; to 7648M; presently at Cotswold Airport Museum. The Type 173 was the first British twin-rotor helicopter and was developed into the Type 191 to fill a requirement by the RAF. Known as the Belvedere, it served with the RAF in many area throughout the world.
The Museums Type 173, XF785, is the original prototype, which first flew from Filton on 3rd January 1952. It continued as a development aircraft until the late 1950's, when it was placed in storage, and did not see the light of day until it was delivered to the Bristol Aero Collection on 3rd January 2002, exactly 50 years after its first flight.
