A family were hauled off a packed passenger plane by police after a bust-up at 30,000ft.
Officers boarded the Virgin Atlantic flight from Orlando, Florida, moments after it touched down at Manchester Airport. They were called by the captain who was concerned that passengers were behaving in a disruptive manner.
It is understood that the passengers involved were from Liverpool and were related. An eyewitness said two men had squared up to each other over the Atlantic and punches were thrown. While terrified passengers looked on, cabin crew had to step in to try to calm those involved.
Passenger Fraser Macneill, a company director from Birmingham who was travelling back from a family holiday, said his three-year-old grandaughter was among those upset by the incident. He said: “We were about four hours into the flight when things started to go wrong.
“There was quite a large party of people from Liverpool – they seemed to be from the same family – and they started verbally abusing each other. Two of the men then squared up to each other and punches were thrown.
“I tried to stop one of the men from hitting the other again and the cabin crew came over. It upset some passengers – many were coming back from Disneyworld so a lot of families were on-board. It was pretty shocking.”
Seems no arrests were made.
