The captain's chair on the Manchester is Aston Martin...probably the most expensive bit of kit on the ship!

How old is the manchester ?, looks quite modern to me.

it was commisoned in 1982 jake so she is an old girl now along with HMS Liverpool which is the last of the 2nd batch of type 42s the navy has

Let`s hope the Argies do not offer a tender for any of them. Chile has been a regular purchaser of RN vessels in the past. Their navy is run on very similar lines to ours, but whether they'd want a 30-year old warhorse is another matter... The programme on C5 was very well done, I thought. I was quite surprised, because you don't normally expect that sort of thing from C5. The scene of them chasing a coconut was hilarious!

Suspect the ships will go up for internal naval tender for the use by a foreign navy depending on the fit of the vessel, and if nobody wants her, she'll end up going for external tender like the Ark. Failing that.... scrap metal price isn't too bad at the moment. According to BBC Northwest tonight she is to be broken up and re-cycled.
