Firstly, I am talking about the road that runs parallel to the runway.I would like to nominate this road for the worst pot-holed in Liverpool, if not the UK. This road gets patched up year in, year out, but this year it has to be in the worst state for a long time!!

Suspect that currently this thread is incorrectly titled.
There are 2 Speke Roads in South Liverpool - neither is the one you refer to.
Speke Road, Woolton, L25 runs from Hunts Cross traffic lights to Woolton Village traffic lights - with Woolton Golf Course on both sides for part of its length.
Speke Road (A561), Garston, L19 runs from the Horrocks Ave/Garston Way junction (PC World) to the Speke Hall Road/Speke Boulevard junction (car showrooms). The 1939-1984 Terminal entrance to Liverpool Airport was off this road (now the Crowne plaza).
Suspect though that you are refering to Dunlop Road/Hale Road ? Dunlop Road runs from Speke Hall Ave (the signposted Airport access road dual carriageway) to the junction with Western Avenue, Speke. There it becomes Hale Road, initially running parallel to the Airport runway on one side and Speke Estate on the other, then onwards towards Hale Village.
Yes, I agree that the stretch of road from Speke Hall Ave, parallel to the runway and onwards to Hale is in a disgusting state of (dis)repair. It is NOT a signposted route to Liverpool John Lennon Airport though. Only residents of Hale Bank and Hale would use it to get to/from LJLA, from anywhere else the dual carriageway routes would be quicker. However, it does serve the GA area and would be used by VIPs using the executive facilities provided by Ravenair. That should be of a concern to the Council and LJLA management.

Sadly I am at an age when I clearly recall road repairs being done correctly and not as is done now a sort of pathetic thin coat of tarmac put in place of everything onto road, pavements and anything else. It lasts no time at all.
