Was taken down to U-Tapao airport/ Navy base to hopefully visit the small museum there. After driving around inside the base , we found some Thai Navy pilots who informed us that the museum had closed and the few aircraft had been towed back across the runway. Despite the efforts of my sister-in-law they advised us that they couldn't take us round the helicopter hangars ! Went round to the civilian terminal area to see what could be read off only to find that the no photo signs have now been replaced with no photos or binoculars signs ! It appears that the American authorities have got their way as they use this base an awful lot. In today were two c-130's, two C-17's , a citation ? and a 747 freighter. There are rumors that certain people are brought here to be questioned but these are only rumors but could explain why the no binoculars signs are up. Also present were two TU-204's.Here is what could be read off: 1110 Dornier Do.228212 8189 Royal Thai Navy 1111 Dornier Do.228212 8190 Royal Thai Navy 1115 Dornier Do.228212 8241 Royal Thai Navy 2301 Bell Helicopters 214ST 28156 Royal Thai Navy 2303 Bell Helicopters 214ST 28171 Royal Thai Navy 2304 Bell Helicopters 214ST 28172 Royal Thai Navy 2310 Sikorsky S-76B 760452 Royal Thai Navy 3105 McDonnell-Douglas HarrierAV-8S 712185 Preserved Managed to get this photo of the gate guard with the help of my daughter as the excuse !
