Can any of you recommend a decent Chinese Restaurant (not take away) that opens lunchtimes on weekdays in the city centre?

Not the City Centre per se but not far away and with a free car park is the Chung Ku at the back of the Jaguar Dealers on Riverside Drive.
Food and service is excellent and the 'Businessmen's' menu is astonishing value. (the sweet and sour chicken is sublime!)

We are visiting on St Patricks Day, from Manchester by train. It was a choice for this visit between Liverpool and Leeds. Liverpool won on much cheaper train fare, despite the journey time being the same. Previous old soaks days out have seen visits to Blackpool, York (x2), Scarborough, Crewe and the East Lancashire Railway. The Nov/Dec meet is always in Manchester. Tradition is that we have a lunch in a Chinese.
I have not been in Liverpool for over 20 years, so hence the question.
Is the Slaughter House still open?
Manchester by the way has it's own China Town and Chinese Arch.
Thanks for the info guys.

We have the oldest Chinese settlement in Europe and the biggest multi span Chinese Arch outside China. The archway is the tallest outside China too.
Slaughter House is still open.

Duly visited Liverpool last Thursday. Took the open top bus tour. Didn't fancy a trip on one of them yellow duwks at the docks though and they do look strange going up hill towards Lime Street Station.
Several hostelries visited including The Slaughter House and The Grapes on Matthews Street plus a Cains pub, on the way back to Lime Street Station after lunch in the Mandarin, which was excellent.
Cains Bitter and Manns Mild were voted the best beers of the day.

Unfortunately, as the main purpose of the visit was beer and food, one bus trip was all that could be fitted into a busy schedule and was undertaken upon arrival in Liverpool.
