That`s that then the UN Council have agreed to impose the NFZ over Libya, and the whole of the UK RAF air strenght as reported by TV to be up to 24 Tornado aircraft has been put on ready alert to go ? The US are in charge and with one aircraft carrier dwarf the whole UK deployment strength I have a feeling this may all go pear shaped and now we do not have the strength to reverse it once commited, I hope I am wrong. Our troops are spread thinly enough already.

A smooth talking ex-Eton multi-millionaire Government spokesman has agreed to do a Q&A session in respect of the No Fly Zone proposal. the questions were put by Man-in-the-Street.
Q - Can we put an aircraft carrier off shore to give our pilots more flying time over Libya? A - Sorry, we have just scrapped the Ark Royal, sacked 200 pilots and scrapped the Harriers we needed.
Q - Well, maybe could we help by supplying the reconnaisence aircraft necessary? A - Sorry again, but we have scrapped the replacement Nimrods to save money.
Q- Didn't the Government experts consider that we may need some form of military capability in this unsettled world? A - Of course not - we are too busy blaming everything on the last Government to consider policy.
Q - Right, so how are we going to implement this No Fly Zone? A - Well we did say some time ago that we were thinking of borrowing or sharing aircraft carriers with France but we can't get an answer from them as they are still rolling around on the floor laughing.
Q - Is it possible to treat this No Fly Zone seriously? A - Of course. Our Governmental considerations are that Fred Karno is still alive and well and living in Downing Street and we await his latest defence policy decisions.
Q - So in the meantime what is our defence policy? A - We are looking to Anthony Gormley to produce more figures similar to those on Crosby beach to scare away any would be attackers. The attraction is that they are not on the pay-roll so we save money there. The down side is that they cannot fly aircraft but we are talking to Gormley about this at the moment.
Q - Does anyone in the Government know what is going on? A - No, Mr Man-in-the-Street, but rest assured we know what we are doing. Next question, please.

Yep lots of flights in and out over the past 36 hours, Marham 9 Sqn GR4s and 6/11 Sqn Typhoons today. Marham have just launched a further trail flight out there. Lots of tankers required for this as you'd imagine... £££

I would love just ten minutes in a locked roon with our "leader" Camoron. I thought we were making cuts? I work with the elderley as a dementia and vulnerable adults care worker in their own homes, to help and support them in day to day living. Personal care, toileting, medication, shopping etc etc.... However Camoron thinks these people are a drain on the country and can no longer support them (despite most paying tax all their lives, having children that grow up and also pay tax etc) and having their vital care cut as Camoron says he cant afford it anymore. Leaving vulnerable adults without help or support. How much is this Libya campaign costing? I heard a Tomahawk missile costs £300.000 each, a hundred have been sent, unless he got a good deal on e-bay? . Plus the expense of the fighters and personnel going there, did they pay extra fuel duty and an extra tax for their "carbon footprint", extra baggage allowance and a rip off airport tax by any chance? Perhaps someone should challenge Camoron's regime of how he is treating people in this once great country ?
Rant over
Steve
p.s and if the reason is human rights of civilians, then why not go for Mugabe in Zimbabwe?

Can`t people understand this is an combined "international" decision and not one made by the UK PM. It is not even oil inspired which will be the next concern. Every country has internal cash flow problems and also people who work within groups who need more money poured into it. I for one will support this effort, my father who was in the Desert Rats 8th during ww2 spent a long time in Libya partially seiged inside Tobruk, even he would not want a wholesale massacre of the peope by this madman, even if he is one of many. I agree about Mugabe as well but I suspect the difference her is that this has pretty much unanimous support right now, African states surrounding Zimbabwe are not the same. Lastly the health service in this country WASTES millions every day, perhaps looking aroind within the area of elderly care and associated services you can yourself see money being wasted ?

Come off it Biggles, Cameron made this macho statement about a No Fly Zone and was probably very surprised that the UN took it on. He's probably been lying in bed ever since saying, "I didn't meant it, lads, I didn't mean it". The actions of the UK - or should I say the lack of action - is indicative of how ill-prepared this statement was. He thought it was his 'Thatcher Falklands' moment and now finds that the suggestion has brought the Meditteranean to a state of war. How it will all end is now anyones guess. I would suggest that you now apologise to Columbo for your insulting remarks. He/she is doing a great job with the most deserving of people and does not warrant the broad statement that the NHS wastes millions. You may be in a better position to comment if you spent a month working with the disadvantaged/disabled. Finally, you don't know what the future holds and it may be that you will need such services yourself one day. I didn't ever think I would be in that position myself but the person nearest and dearest to me finds herself in that position and I want Cameron to agree with me that her concerns are more important than any macho actions against Colonel Gadaffi..

Well said Columbo -
Nice to know there are people on here that care and are not all Daily Mail readers with bigoted self-centred, 'let them eat cake' mentalities.

Aircraft RCAF 15005 was opping as "PETRO O1" today not HUSKY 01. Plenty of interesting types and c/s and even country assetts. couple of good ones tonight. (Numerous contacts to and from Sigonella) c/s "English 10" self id as an RQ4B UAV rtb Sigonlla Flt Lv 500/600 US operator/pilot. Heard several times. also what sounded like ""CARGO 74" ID`d as a pair of two arab sounding pilots in F.16`s Plenty of other stuff about. For members a good place to tune to is LiveATC on the net and log into LMML. You can of course still get EZY and RYR flights in case withdrawal kicks in. ;D
