Learned contributors, Can anyone confirm the last arrival and departure for the now missing runways 28, 10, 02 and 20 at Ringway as it was then ? I can remember the Dan-Air York which flew LAP- Glasgow- Ringway- LAP for BEA landing on 20 into the teeth of an absolute gale. Cambrian often used 28/10 with their DC-3s as well. Thanks for your time and trouble. Be lucky David

God I remember the Dan Air Yorks--what a sight--always felt you had to duck when theyt went over. In those days you could get into the field behind the pub and get close. No info. re the runways but what memories--do you remember the BOAC DC-7s coming in? Or the Lufthansa Starliners? Happy days--when all aircraft did not suffer from convergent evolution and look like clones.LOL

I am currently researching MAN movements for the 1960's for the intention of publishing a book exclusively on MAN in the 1960's.. My in-depth research so far has taken me up to May 1964, which co-incidentally includes the last movements on Runway 02/20.
I can confirm as of May 1964, this runway was still used for arrivals/departures, albeit very infrequently and mainly, it seems, for resident aircraft.
Hope that helps.
