Before anyone gets excited I mean the rail service from Lime Street! Did anyone notice that the City Council were going to object to the Virgin franchise being renewed due to the poor service from Lime Street compared to Manchester which has twice as many services. The council were also concerned at the overcrowding there is on some of the services. Virgin came back and said they were going to increase the lengths of the trains from 9 carriages to 11. (by the way the old steam services used to be 11 anyway!) Great you may think, they have listened and are doing something about it but at the same time they announced that services are to be increased from 9 to 11 carriages on all other big city routes so Liverpool really didn't get any concessions. I wonder if the council noticed?

I think they (the Councillors) should have a taxpayer funded away day and overnighter on each train journey they think needs sorting. That should probably come up with a solution.
