Hi Peter, No your not, it was PA474 Avro Lancaster 1 of The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight which is based at R.A.F. Coningsby. Hex. Code 43C392 using its registration as its Call-Sign (PA474). Hope this helps. Happy Spotting. DOUGLAS12(Norman).

A319 G-EZDB departed back to Gatwick as EZY8004 at about 1920,so no swap of based aircraft seems to have occured.

According to my Base Station Reporter it was showing its reg. as its call-sign. I was out at the time, so I did not have my Radio on to confirm this. : >: H.T.H. DOUGLAS12(Norman).

If true I wonder why the 19 was added to the call-sign, usually just uses c/s Lancaster, as far I as have heard. Could be a pilot specific addition maybe. May be Alex can help.

And for those interested, G-EZDB was a standby aircraft which came up from Luton to cover a sick Airbus. The aircraft which was due to cover the morning flight to Faro went tech with a sick No2 engine FADEC unit, resulting in a 6 hour delay. 6 hours in Faro was interesting in that it showed a Saturday to be relatively quiet, and that the main operators are Ryanair and to a lesser extent, easyJet. Thanks to the skipper for making the effort to come into the cabin personally to tell us the reason for the delay.

Thanks to the skipper for making the effort to come into the cabin personally to tell us the reason for the delay. Apparently, the capt coming into the cabin when there is a serious delay is now SOP on easyJet. A flight I was dealing with last week had a four-hour slot delay and the crew were discussing how to deal with it. The slot was removed at the last minute, and everything was OK, but full marks to EZY for instigating this procedure.
