And for those interested, G-EZDB was a standby aircraft which came up from Luton to cover a sick Airbus. The aircraft which was due to cover the morning flight to Faro went tech with a sick No2 engine FADEC unit, resulting in a 6 hour delay. 6 hours in Faro was interesting in that it showed a Saturday to be relatively quiet, and that the main operators are Ryanair and to a lesser extent, easyJet. Thanks to the skipper for making the effort to come into the cabin personally to tell us the reason for the delay. Apparently, the capt coming into the cabin when there is a serious delay is now SOP on easyJet. A flight I was dealing with last week had a four-hour slot delay and the crew were discussing how to deal with it. The slot was removed at the last minute, and everything was OK, but full marks to EZY for instigating this procedure. ...AND on our recent EZY flight to Jersey, which was on time with no problems, I was very surprised that the Captain came and stood by the front exit door, smiling and bidding good morning to one and all!!! They will be bringing back allocated seats and hot meals next???
