My wife loves shopping in this store . I find the whole experience a nightmare as soon as you walk through the door of the Birkenhead store is like entering a battlefield strewn with the debris of the days battles. It is so cramped, hot and untidy I am surprised it lasted so long trading like this.

The one in Warrington is as you describe in Birkenhead, but the one in Widnes is a bit more John Lewis, so to speak. Perhaps it's down to the manager. I'd be sorry to see them go because a lot of the stuff they sell are well-known names/decent quality at bargain prices, but maybe this is their undoing.

Lewis' has died! Woolworths (Church Street?) went a while ago! T J Hughes showing terminal signs! Will there be any stores left next time I visit the 'hallowed' birthplace?!

We are all doomed by the march and world domination of Tesco Express. Aldi and Lidl

Don't overlook the demise of 'Blacklers' either.

...... and what about Lyons tea shop in Church Street with its wonderful cafe on the first floor? We sometimes followed a Saturday afternoon tea in there with a visit to the Tatler News Theatre just a few doors along Church Street.

"We are all doomed by the march and world domination of Tesco Express. Aldi and Lidl"
What have these got to do with TJ Hughes? None of them are in competition with TJ's.
