Hi Michael
Get some padded cycling shorts, don't use the gel pads that fit to your seat as they move around too much. The shorts don't have to be expensive (try Aldi of JJB) Make sure you take plenty too drink Take a couple of spare tubes rather than a puncture repair kit. If you are using a mountain bike try and put on some slick tyres or at least something less knobbly. If this is not an option make sure you get the maximum PSI in the tyres - this will help with drag on the road The other thing is ride at your own pace especially at the beginning.
If I think of anything else I'll add it
Hope you enjoy it - pity about the start location ;D

Hello Ian thanks for your reply, padded shorts are a must, I intend to take protein bars, and drink lots of water too, hopefully I wont have forgotton anything and the ride should go smoothly weather permitting.
We should be starting at Anfield (A dream start)
