Thought we'd best move this from Tuesdays LPL thread before getting shouted at Ozzy era Sabbath? Dio era Rainbow? Maiden? Master of Puppets era Metallica? Dr Feelgood era Motley Crue? Zeppelin? Bon Scott era 'DC? Best recent gig? Orange Goblin in a room busting at the seams with a crowd of 200! GC (working with Shout at the Devil rocking out of the docking station!)

By the term "band" are you ruling out bands led by named "solo" artistes,such as Gary Moore and Rory Gallagher? You could also include Beth Hart and Cindy Bullens. But I think my favourite band of all time is probably Creedence Clearwater Revival...shame about the limited repertoire of material they produced. The same can be said for The Traveling Wilburys who still "appear" regularly on my headphones. But for music quality,quantity and longevity my award goes to Bruce Springsteen (or the E.Street Band if you prefer!)
P.S...my favourite track is "Stargazer" by Rainbow with RJD on vocals which coincidentally featured on Rainbow Rising - the album with the best sleeve! Or possibly Me.262 by Blue Oyster Cult (the live version is better than the one with said aeroplane on the cover!) ...OR... Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd! I'll get me coat!

Showing my age a bit now but my favourite band of all time is U2 Followed closely by GENESIS Then- Pink Floyd, Moody Blues, Supertramp, Wings, Chicago, The Eagles, Led Zepperlin, The Beatles, Followed then by Coldplay, Killers, The Farm, Toto, in fact I like most groups- But not really into Heavy Metal- But all those mentioned in previous posts have been around for a long time and have not been one hit wonders, and they deserve credit for that. Not like a lot of the one hit ponies we see now days. Happy Days Bob

All the replies do confirm that variety, is indeed, the spice of life. For the record, Maiden were awesome last night, amazing seeing teenagers rockin' out to tracks released 10 years before they were born Bit of a "gig drought" for me now, next one planned is Flogging Molly in November GC

I don't do heavy.
I do do (in order of preference);
Pink Floyd Genesis Dire Straits (early stuff and some of solo Knopfler) U2 Stones (the Rolling type) Propaganda (bizarrely!) Stones (the Roses type) The Prodigy Radiohead Faithless Muse Florence
My latest middle age crisis has me hooked on Pendulum! Can't beat a bit of drum 'n' bass!!

If you have got a bit of a gig drought, can i recommend the brilliant 'Think Floyd'. ( Not your average tribute band, the guitar work is awesome ) I went to see them in their early days and they where good then. www.thinkfloyd.net/gigguide.phpHere's the best video i could find on Youtube, at the Citadel St.Helens. youtu.be/Ec5KBDPzTIQMike / Speedbird

Hi Graham and Pink Floyd fans. If you have got a bit of a gig drought, can i recommend the brilliant 'Think Floyd'. ( Not your average tribute band, the guitar work is awesome ) With the likelihood that Gilmour and Waters are never going to properly bury the hatchet (and the sad passing of Rick Wright) then this would be a great alternative. Never actually saw Floyd live, their shows looked awesome and were surely the forerunner to many of the extravagant productions that later bands put on. Will look out for Think Floyd. Regards, Garry
