Seems tonight that Liverpool had two or three Police Helis in use I saw the N.Wales one head rapidly across to Liverpool from Rhyl direction. Then to hear a journalist on Sky News say when reporting on the disturbances in Liverpool she was so happy that Police in Liverpool had these "nice toys" to help Perhaps she needs telling that Merseyside lost theirs and no longer has its own unit.

It may or may not be in reserve, but HAS been for sale for the last two years whilst being operational, as I understand it is now securely grounded in a hanger at HWD. If these disturbances keep up and get worse in surrounding areas these other forces will want to retain the air units for themselves and rightly so. I just hope someone pumps some common sense into the Home Sec as she is another do gooder not on the same planet as normal people. She still thinks that a cut of 20% in front line officers will NOT effect the effectiveness of the police on the ground ?? I suggest she gets an anti stab vest on and riot gear and tries it for herself.

As the Conservatives' have been in power for just one year does that mean (like many of these cuts) it was already planned as part of the Labour party's reforms. Probably (like Nimrod, the aircraft carriers/Harriers) why Labour are not shouting the current Government down from the roof tops. Suppose it's like all governments - at the end of the day it's the (permanent) civil servants that advise/dictate what's happening. Anything here remind you of the sit-com 'Yes Minister'.

Sadly the answer to that is a resounding affirmative G.Brown and especially the last Chancellor stitched the incoming government into a number if irreversible contracts which meant the UK would lose millions if not £billions why they would do that other than to secure political points in opposition I do not know. But then again it was Brown who sold the Gold Reserves and got rock bottom price for the deal just prior to Gold prices going through the roof which they still are doing. Had he not performed that malfunction perhaps the UK would be in a better state financially. Bailing out countries which are financially better off than we are is another legacy. Like China, Pakistan and India to name 3. "Yes Minister" was funny this isn`t.
