That solves the question as to what loud and fast thing shot down the river in the clag this morning which I only heard and couldn`t eyeball due to the sea mist.

In addition to the comments and excellent photos of the pair of Tornados circa 10:50am, there was another burst of military jet noise around 1:10pm too that, as yet, has not been commented on/identified. More Hawk than Tornado in volume though.
A couple of days ago, there was a comment that the Hawks currently sound quieter on departure than previously. This I would put down to the newer engines in the Hawk T.2s now appearing on the ILS/practice diversion.
Also, Beemer, you have not commented on a visiting Robinson R.44 that made a couple of approaches and go-arounds on 09 late morning, you made a note of the regn, I didn't.

There was a Hawk that did an ILS/ga, I got a very poor photo due to it turning right extremely early in comparison to "normal" Hawk g/a's. It didn't even come close to the 27 threshold and I had my camera ready for a photo as it would have passed overhead. As for the quieter Hawks, t'was my comment and I suspect you are of course quite right with the T-2s.
