An old spotting log book was retrieved from the loft this week. In this I have logged at Woodvale on 20th August 1963 two Meteor F8 aircraft; WH453 and VZ508. Can anybody throw any light on these? gate guardians? non-flyers? visitors? Thanks for any information. Just interested. The log has thrown up lots of long forgotten memories. The log for the BoB display at Tern Hill in 1964 would make the present day spotter weep and me feel quite old!

The Meteors at Woodvale were based and flown by No.5 CAACU, they had a Meteor T.7 WF791, several F.8s and a TT.20, I think 5 in all until the early 70s. The Meteor T.7 later was used by the CFS Vintage Pair.
I was at the 1965 Tern Hill Bof B, so know what you mean regarding the variety and gems to be seen then.

Apologies for taking the thread off in a new direction, but Tern Hill 1965 was the first B of B display I went to after I had persuaded my long-suffering father it was really within day trip distance. Actually I don't think he needed all that much arm-twisting, but that's another story. I had saved up al my shillings for a roll of Agfa slide film...these are about the best of the bunch: C-47 by William Leece, on Flickr Gladiator by William Leece, on Flickr

Thanks for the info Viscount, and also the pm. The pics from William are good too. I could only afford a single roll of black and white for my trip in 64 and some of those didnt come out. Oh for a DSLR in those days (or a time machine of course!)
