Here's a piece of the action (severely reduced from 4 hours to less than ten minutes ) from RAF Valley. We couldn't believe how close we were allowed to get to operational traffic , but hey, who cares We used Vicounts destructions (as posted on here) to make our way to the base & were pleasantly surprised to find that it is a much bigger place than expected - and the action was none stop! (did we arrive on a good day ?) Spending roughly 4 hours there - we weren't short of anything to video at any given time - but of course, what I can upload to Utube does limit things a bit - nevertheless, it does give fellow/ess forum members the chance to see what goes on there (if its not possible for a personal journey!) My only complaints are that again, it was a very windy day, and, I had to sit astride a wooden fence to avoid the road traffic, to get decent shots (my butts still sore ) Remind me to write a letter to voice my complaints to the MOD That said, we would definitely recommend a trip out there to the travel minded Cheers, icebreaker

Glad you enjoyed your day out at Valley. Perhaps you can now appreciate why I'm so keen on the place. Apart from a Squirrel you don't seem to seen many visitors, but as you state watching the Hawk and resident helicopters activity fills the day.
While road traffic is a problem on the short runway by the bridge, both ends of the long runway don't suffer from that problem. Bet you are planning your next outing there soon.

Nice vid Great place is Valley. Incidentally if anyone has a spare seat in their car over the summer months on a trip to Valley, I'd be very interested in hitchhiking along for the day Alex

Forgot to mention that there is information on the original YouTube post for this vid - roughly it states that... notice : hawk 1 hits the runway hard and nearly buries the nose notice : display hawk XX307 gets a tug back following an operational recall notice : hawk XX308 is "under steering instruction" - you can almost hear the navigator shouting " left, left, left ,you turnip ! "
