Hi everyone,
A very bright, fast meteor (or similar object) with a long trail passed over LPL airfield heading in roughly a south-westerly direction at 1844 this evening. It was gone in a second.
I just happened to be outside at the right moment and looking up at Jupiter through gaps in the cloud.
I don't know of any established meteor activity this late in November and saw no others during the following few minutes. There is always a chance it was a chunk of man-made space junk/debris.
This is the brightest such object of the few I have ever seen.
I'm not sure over what sort of area such an event would appear to be directly overhead as it was here.
Did anybody else see this (from the ATC tower perhaps?) and if so is there a positive i/d?
Before anyone suggests it,this was definitely NOT Meteor F.8 WH291 which was still in bits in the Marriott hotel car park the last time I saw it!
Keep your eyes on the skies! Cheers,Keith
