Some time ago on the xsorbit site the producers of a future television series for BBC 4 contacted nwanforum looking for those with memories of the Airport in the Thirties and Fifties.
My father was one a number of people interviewed and recently received a letter from Georgia Moseley, the series producer.
"Dear David,
I am pleased to be able to tell you that the new three part documentary series The Secret Life of the Airport will shown on Mondays at 9pm on BBC Four starting on Monday 15th June, and continuing on the 22nd and the 29th June.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you once again for so kindly allowing our team to film with you. This series will be all the richer for your contribution and we are avery grateful to you for taking the time to talk to us. It is really appreciated. You feature in the first episode which will transmit on Monday 15th June.
I hope you enjoy the series."
My father also informs me that the 'Radio Times' as a brief write-up on p.72 of next week's edition. As well as the Monday 9pm broadcast, it is repeated the same evening at 11.35pm and on Thursday at 10am. BBC Four is Freeview 9 and Sky 116. Video Plus 6328301.
He notes too that on Monday 15th June the one hour 'The Secret Life of the Airport' is followed by 'Goodbye London Aerodrome' - pilots discuss their memories of RAF Hendon, which has been an RAF station since 1918. While at 10.35pm '40 Minutes On' is a repeat of a 1990 film on the UK's smallest international airline, run by husband and wife team Roy and Merlyn Suckling.
Earlier BBC 4 feature at 7.30pm 'Return to . . . . Airport' 1st of 5 The series that revisits 7 docusoaps features flamboyant Aerofot supervisor Jeremy Spake reflecting on the Heathrow series that made him a star 13 years ago. While at 8 pm 'The Way we Travelled' looks bac at the first travel shows to hit British TV screens, featuring Richard Dimbleby's Passport and Cliff Michelmore in Holiday.
