Love iPad. We have one and we use it in G-AXVB as a moving map display Best GPS I have ever used. No need to have the 3G version. Just hook up a cheap GPS receiver using bluetooth. The digital charts are half the cost of paper ones and updated for free. (In France anyway..) The only problem I have found is that the information is so good and so clear, I now have complaints from the right hand seat if we are "going a bit off" the pre planned track.

Yeah, went flying on New Year's Day to test AirNav pro....was very impressed using it as a moving map, espcially with the CAA charts And it saves a google earth file of your track! .mic

Airnav pro ..very good isn't it?
Looks like your track took you over some of the places in my former part of the world. (Kemble, Charlton Park, Compton Abbas, Old Sarum and around the danger areas.)

Quite by chance, whilst looking through my box of my oldest (and worst) photos for any related to Wavertree Exhibitions, came across this one. At first did not realise why it rang bells, then while looking at later posts in this thread, realised Ron had referred to G-AXVB in post #2. Probably be awarded the prize for the worst photo posted of the year, on the back is stated: G-AXVB Cessna F.172H, 12th April 1971, Squires Gate.

Thanks Brian. I will add this to my G-AXVB photo collection. I have been flying this machine since 1972, that's 40 years, and have actually owned it for the last 20. I have been flying for 50 years...but it is all coming to an end. Its a very sad time but I have to face the facts that the burden of aeroplane ownership is just getting out of hand. I will continue to fly, but the days of the beautiful, sparkling clean, well maintained and lovingly cared for G-AXVB parked resplendently in front of my house, here in paradise, are truly numbered. See www.atlanticairpark.com/old/lot21.htmRon
