This is not a rare occurrence but is always interesting, this one was around all day until about 4pm. Formed with ice crystals when a specific temperature and angle of sun is below I think 6 degrees. Got this shot at New Brighton near Fort looking East.

a sun dog ! WOW ! .......erm whats a sun dog ? It's a similar halo with what appears to be three suns. The're formed when light from the sun hits a thin layer of ice crystals. For more info click link below; www.islandnet.com/~see/weather/elements/sundog.htm
