Currently Diverting is RYR228Z EI-ENL Poor pilot was told to go to Newcastle but could only refuel and no passenger services but told could go to Prestwick. After a bit of heated discussion with London, Liverpool had space for him!

I see over 20 BA Long-haul flights diverted from Heathrow, yet none to Liverpool which was wide open. Dothe LJLA authorities ever speak to BA about such things?
5 went to Shannon, 3 to Dublin, 4 to Prestwick, 1 to Glasgow, 1 to Paris CDG, 4 to Amsterdam, 3 to Cardiff and 1 to Barcelona
Flights from Sao Paulo, Montreal, Philadelphia and Bangkok diverted to Amsterdam and the Los Angeles flight went to Barcelona. Four of these would have passed over Liverpool

columbus, with the increased hotel capacity in Liverpool, not to mention the new ones at the airport, I agree with you from that point of view. But does Liverpool have 777 pushback tugs etc?

I think they can self-manouevre on/off Stand 14. Also I believe they all diverted to "splash and dash" so no passengers deplaned

To save anyone the trouble of answering my earlier enquiry re EI-ENH,I have now discovered that it diverted in late last night after Scottish ATC had been telling traffic that Liverpool was not accepting any more diversions (at around 2230,even though most of the earlier ones had departed and made space). I would have known all this if I'd stopped to read yesterday's late messages this morning instead of rushing off in pursuit of the IL-76 which failed to make it into Manchester. Great hobby!
