Bob, saw this online a few weeks or so ago!!!!
Trouble is I fear IF it does come back, it'll be a shadow of its former self!!!! :-(
And off base parking for sure!

Hi Bob, looking at the current defence budget cuts, I'd be really surprised if this did happen in 2012, or ever again.......pleasantly surprised I have to say!!!! But then with everyone elses budget cuts who would be lined up in the static? Maybe some Airfix models if we are that lucky!!! I loved Mildenhall show, went from the very early days when it was called an "open house", very little real visitors just the based C-131's, C-117's etc......if only they were still knocking about now......maybe in Buffalo colours? Then the show really took off, and had many many firsts over the years.......saw some superb displays there, anyone else there the day the pilot "bent" the SR-71? But look at how RIAT has got smaller and smaller each year, I didnt even go last year, thats the first one I've ever missed......and I can go back to the first one of those at North Weald! It's a huge shame for us spotters, and the military in general, all of us went to shows, and I'm sure some became military pilots from looking up at a big old F-4/Buccaneer/Lightining saying "I want to do that". Hi guys,
Another factor affecting the possible return of the Mildenhall airshow is that the organisers will probably insist on selling all tickets in advance. This leaves them free to promise whatever participants they can dream up,only to announce in the run-up to the show that these have been "unavoidably cancelled". But no problem...they still sold you a ticket (just like another event I could mention!).
Yes...I remember the SR-71 burning fuel in the exhaust and producing a plume of flame as long as the plane. The show when all the 48TFW Super Sabres from Lakenheath were in temporary residence due to runway work down the road wasn't bad either.
Airshows ain't what they used to be!

Keith you must remember the good side to the show in the eighties. Burger and a Bud for a pound. The burger cooked on a bar-b-que made from a 45 gallon oil drum and the Buds floating in a barrel of icy water. They wouldn't sell you the beer with out the seal being open (tax or something). Regards Beemer.

Beemer, those burgers were stuff of legend, covered in their special BBQ sauce too.....long before the golden arches made their way to the UK!!! Another thing you could feast on was grape soda.......that was nice stuff if you were driving and not able to enjoy too many buds. A mate of mine drink 3 of these in quick succesion, and we were treated to a puddle of purple puke on the ramp!!!! :-)
They put up some great pairings in fly-by's over the years. I do remember Concord making one of her appearances there, and when she took off for the return over the north sea and back to LHR, when the tower cleared her to climb, the pilot requested a fly by, the tower duly obliged......nice lowish fly by followed, tower again cleared her to climb, again the pilot requested a flyby. This time he put the pedal to the metal and engaged burner about a quarter of the way down the runway and kept her low.......British excellence there. she then climed and left......fond fond memories!!!
John :-) :-) :-)

There is just nothing flying these days that could match the excitement of watching the SR-71 fly. Mildenhall shows were always my favourites. Burgers - yum and I even managed to come home with some unopened Budweisers after persuading a guy that I didn't want all six opening at once ;D ;D Cheers, Dave

Oh VERY yes, looking at those has brought back lots of memories........I was young then!!!! :-(
Proper airshows, proper amount of planes, noisy flying, Red Arrows pulling G's over the crowd..........those were the days!!!!!
