As NWRVT pointed out on another thread the one time Birkenhead based 'Warship Preservation Trust's' Frigate, HMS Plymouth is to be scrapped. Obviously, upsetting for many who served on her and to NWAN members who visited the museum. It seems ironic that Plymouth City Council are now trying to secure artifacts from her. This is leaving a bad taste in the mouth of not only those who fort hard to save her but also the people of Plymouth. Their councilors refused to give her a permanent mouring, thereby condemning the vessel to her fate. I've included two links below, one to the HMS Plymouth Association web-site for those who want to know a little more about her and one to news site 'This is Plymouth' where an article encourages views on the subject. www.hmsplymouth.co.uk/history.htmlwww.thisisplymouth.co.uk/discussions/HMS-PLYMOUTH-DECONSTRUCTED-SCRAPPED-LATER-YEAR/discussion-15523744-detail/discussion.html

It was supposed to move to Plymouth for a new Museum, I take it that the deal has fallen through.
Another piece of history is goung to be lost to the world, I managed to visit it when it was in Glasgow back in 1991.

Thank you 'Marjack' for joining and relating that interesting piece of information to us. As aviation enthusiasts we have been concerned for some time about the future of the Wasp. We are just sorry that HMS Plymouth does not have a rescuer too.

Are they not Sea Vixens?

Sea Vixens they most certainly are, and much more appropriate given the maritime setting.
Picture is a nice find, quite unusual setting with the frigate under power in open water.

Thanks Richard - eyes ain't what they used to be. Your spot on there Brian, a superb photo. One of those rare moments of being in the right place at the time. I've changed post to read Sea Vixens.
