I want to track a specific flight on Planefinder - at the moment TAR946.
So I click on "Map Options" and then on "Search".
This gives me a box to enter the callsign of the flight I want to track.
So far so good...I enter "TAR946" in the box...then what?
I can find no way to activate the search.
I've tried clicking/double clicking/pressing ENTER...nothing happens!
What am I missing here???

You just put it in and press enter. If nothing happens the flight doesn't exist (at least not on planfinder)

The reason you could not find was the Aircraft was not transmitting its callsign, it landed at 18:35 according to Manchester Arrivals Board. It is visible on Flightradar24 for the last few minutes of the Flight. www.flightradar24.com/2012-03-31/17:27/RYR3AJIf you click on the aircraft north of Crewe it should show. I checked Planefinder and the the aircraft did not show.

Thanks Peter and Mike,
I often wonder what these plotting signals are actually for,as their use seems pretty random.
If they are necessary, why not mandatory? If they are optional, why have them at all?
I've noticed that, with perhaps the occasional exception,Canadian and Brazilian built types do not plot.
Nor do many of the older aircraft (e.g.the Star Air 767Fs) or turboprops.
Does anyone know for whose benefit tracking information is sent (obviously not for spotters!) and why certain types,or individual aircraft,do or do not send a signal?
Puzzled,Keith
