All we need now is the weather to complement it. Although I am not a fair weather spotter there must be nothing worse than a wet RIAT . Regards Beemer.

Beemer, the only plus I ever found, was back in the OLD days, when you parked on the airfield........!!!!! It might have been the year of the Kuwaiti F18's....but don't quote me. There was a MASSIVE downpour, so me and my mate legged it back to the car, we'd only done the nearest part of the static by then.......we had our butties, drank some coffee, moaned about the weather!!!
Then when it stopped, superb piccies of planes with lovely reflective puddle's in front of them!!!!!
Not going to be a massive show this year, but hopefully I will make a few!!!!!

John, AS Bob Dylan said "The Times They are a Changing"- glad I am not mad as I was about Mil airshows- although the tattoo always used to be good with about 400 going into the book most shows- but that was when I used to travel with Air Britain Merseyside. As far as the weather is concerned it's a case seeing what it has in store for us all- hopefully for you and all the guys who have paid your cash up front- lets hope it is nice- but you can always take a brolly with you and some good walking shoes and a packamac. Happy Spotting Bob

My wife and I were allowed to stay at a friend's caravan for a couple of days up near the Garstang- and it rained buckets- we had ducks sat next to the van- never the less the hardy souls we were we gave up after one night with the rain beating down on top of the van and went home. At least yourself and Viscount saw some nice aircraft. Lets face it we are all quackers about this hobby of ours and will go out in all weathers to do it, but sometimes planning is advised. I can see a bit of blue sky appear just as I am typing this above my den- so I better go!!!!! Happy Spotting Bob

John, "Beemer, the only plus I ever found, was back in the OLD days, when you parked on the airfield........!!!!!" I don't think the OLD days will ever return to airfield parking. It is a pain carrying every thing you require for the day hoping you havn't forgot something. Regards Beemer.

One good thing though about rubbish weather was I managed to get all my logs for the year up to date, and my airliners/BICR all marked in- the missus is made up with that- she can now have her dining table back. 710 cops for this year so far- well on target to beat last year's total of 1400. As far as carrying everything with you at RIAT- you can always get a large rucksack- or better still get one of those pop mobility scooter's that they ride around in the Shoppo !!! Now where is that sun!!!!!! Happy Days Bob

Just checked on RIAT, and the Slovakian's are joining the party, 2 for the static, a L410 and a Mig29UB!!! Slowly slowly growing!!!!
Beemer......nope never to be repeated days those!!!! More's the pity, even had to park off base when I went to Nellis show a couple of years ago!! However....they bussed you from the racetrack to the base in a fleet of airconditioned FREE coaches!!!!
Bob......sounds like you NEED a database mate!!! :-) :-) :-) Hours of endless fun, putting your spotting career into your database!!! Love mine!!!
John :-)

John, Thought about a Data-base, but I am happy with the old style BICR, and my Airliner production books etc. I do however have files with light aircraft and Mil that I have gathered since I started collecting in 1961. Also it keeps the mind active- and does not crash. In any case just collect frames now, found it easier than seeing one aircraft with multiple registrations or scrapes as people call them- I was the loser though lost a few thousand registrations by taking this option. Happy Days Bob

Top TOP news........
Japan is bringing a KC-767.......huge first this!!!!!!
Lets hope it bodes well for future participation!!!!!!! The Blue Impulse display team, are a close second in the world to our own Red Arrows......saw them at the USAF 50th anniversary show at Nellis in 1997. They do a bomburst type manouvre, then they fly back towards each other making a star of David symbol.......superb!!!!!
John :-) :-) :-)

Do not have much interest for Mil shows any more but the info re the B2 being in the static at RIAT- had me reaching for my credit card and almost purchasing an e-ticket on line for the show. But I changed my mind having checked the weather forecast up to next Thursday rain- although the latter has a bit of sun. So I will wait until then to see if a bit of decent weather comes in- lets hope it does. Happy Days Bob

I'm looking forward to it, and hopefully should make a few......I missed last years for the first time ever as I had a problem with my car which no garage could decide what it was at the time!!!!
